🐾 Why Small Dogs Deserve Thoughtful Design
Small dogs are often unfairly labelled as “yappy,” described as having “small dog syndrome,” or dismissed as not being “real dogs.” In reality, they experience the world very differently their size can make everyday environments feel overwhelming and unpredictable.
They are also more likely to attract unwanted attention, with people often reaching out to touch them without consent. For dogs who are already unsure, this can add further stress and discomfort.
For many small dogs, vocalisation is a primary way of communicating fear, discomfort, or uncertainty. These behaviours are not flaws, but important signals that a dog is struggling to cope.
A muzzle can be just as valuable for small dogs as it is for larger dogs. It supports safety, responsible guardianship, and allows training to progress at the dog’s pace. Muzzles may also be used for scavenging prevention, when meeting new people, during dog interactions, or for veterinary visits.
In some countries, dogs of all sizes are legally required to wear muzzles in certain public settings, such as transport or busy areas.
The Mia Dog Muzzle was created with this in mind, recognising that small dogs deserve the same level of thoughtful design, comfort, and respect as any other dog.
Again, measurements are essential for confidence in sizing.
Mia basket only: 33g
Standard Mia muzzle (with rivets & buckle): 71g
Light enough for small dogs. Strong enough for daily use.
🧵 What’s Included
All made-to-order Mia muzzles come as standard with:
Straps are permanently attached using rivets for strength and safety. They cannot be removed without cutting.

🧵 Noseband Options Explained
