I’ve got two very sweet, goofy flat-coated retrievers. Their only vices are eating poop and tearing out all the grass in our yard. We tried redirection and all kinds of training methods, even dietary changes, but nothing helped. I was super hesitant to try a muzzle because of the negative connotations but these are a fun, bright design that invites more curiosity and conversation from our neighbors on walks than fear/concern.
I can honestly say the muzzles have honestly changed our lives. We can now walk them or let them play in the yard without issue and without worrying they’ll make themselves sick eating something they shouldn’t.
Training them to be calm and happy wearing the muzzles took some time and lots of cheese, first on the muzzle while I held it and licked it from the outside, and eventually while wearing it in short bursts, until they were totally comfortable with it. Now they get excited to put them on because they know it signals a walk or play outside. We had some minor issues with shipping that the seller was very responsive to and resolved for us. Later, we bought the mouth guards and charms, which arrived super fast! Looking forward to grabbing some muzzle friendly toys in the future as well.
