Muzzles and Training Guide are now Kids Around Dogs (KAD) approved products!

We are super proud to announce that our Muzzles and Training Guide are now Kids Around Dogs (KAD) approved products!

KAD - Kids Around Dogs® is an award-winning association of Dog Professionals and Child Care Professionals who specialise in working with families and schools to help children and dogs to live in harmony together.

Debby Lucken (ISCP.Dip.Canine.Prac.), the founder of KAD, has also designed a successful protocol to overcome the fear of dogs in kids and adults, which all KAD Approved Professionals are qualified to use.

We sent some of our muzzles and copies of our training guide to 4 KAD approved trainers, plus KAD Founder, Debby Lucken!

We felt becoming KAD approved was important for us as we want professionals and guardians alike to understand and trust our products, especially when being used in situations around dog and child interactions, but also to help children to understand muzzles, what they mean and why they are used.

I could not be more impressed with the muzzle I got from The Muzzle Movement! Not only is the colour gorgeous, and it was fun to choose with my daughter, but the muzzle in itself is sturdy, has lots of room, and can be adjusted to give my dog the best comfort!

I was very happy to use the muzzle to also educate children about why dogs might wear muzzles and that they are not a bad thing, nor should muzzles be associated with something scary, ugly or that makes dogs feel sad (or mean).

I am very happy to recommend The Muzzle Movements as a business, given their passion and love for dogs, especially considering that all their instructions are focused on giving force-free training instructions. Moreover, their customer service is brilliant and, when meeting the staff at events, they were very friendly and very enthusiastic about what they do!

From Virginia Iacoviello, Co-Director of Proyecto Salta Violeta!

Hello, I'm Virginia Iacoviello from Proyecto Salta Violeta, Argentina KAD approved professional. I offered Myself, Pipo and Nina, to test and do the review of THE MUZZLE MOVEMENT muzzles for KAD, and this is what I have to tell you:The good surprises began when I opened the box and I found that it contained the muzzles along with a note with detailed instructions, explaining the reason for the muzzles sent, the correct use of the CHICAGO screws and the adjustments to be made in each muzzle before starting to use them, and a sticker as a gift…Attention to detail and to the customers, very very very good indeed!!!

About the Muzzle Movement Web

Special mention for this super friendly website, in which the first thing you find is a series of explanations, both in writing with diagrams and videos, about how to take the necessary measurements of your dog to be able to buy the muzzle with the perfect fit.  Read More about Sizing

We saw the videos with my 12-year-old son and he was able to understand them perfectly and take the measurements in Pipo (with my supervision, of course)

Once the measurements have been taken, they offer you to upload them in a form, which automatically tells you the name of the perfect model for your dog.

You can also check in a table which muzzle model those measurements correspond to. And, if there is not yet a perfect fit, then you can leave your contact information for when it is available.

You can, by clicking on the name of the model automatically indicated by the form, go directly to the page to buy it, where you have the option to choose the colour combination of the basket and the straps.

This part of the process is ideal to do with your kids, due to the variety of possible combinations!! There are many photos of real dogs with their chosen combination so you can see them if you can't imagine how they would look, and it is very fun to be able to choose your favorite combination!!!!

For an extra payment, you can choose to change the buckle for a quick-release one, the colour of the hardware, or add a forehead band, chin strap or security strap from the collar to the muzzle, there are also toys tested so that your dog can use them with the muzzle on, collars and BIOTANE leashes of various lengths and accessories… it makes you want to buy everything!!!!

The muzzles arrived from the UK to my house doorsteps in Argentina (at the very south of the South American continent) without any problem
🙂

About the muzzle

Nina is muzzle-trained, and super used to wearing it on walks.

For Nina, the recommended model was the TAZ, they added a chin strap which gives the muzzle better adjustment.

What I love about this muzzle in particular;

  • In addition to being colourful and fun,
  • very good quality of the basket material, it looks strong and durable, the straps are made of biotane, and the rivets are metallic
  • It's super lightweight, and Nina finds it very comfortable to wear. I notice this because she doesn't touch her face or try to rub it against walls or chairs when I put it on her, as it happens with her usual muzzle (which is also a basket muzzle).
  • It has a lot of pant room, even enough to pant full mouth open while running with the muzzle on!!!
  • I can give her treats through the opening in the front for this purpose, without having to “push” the muzzle towards her eyes, which makes it easier and more comfortable for both of us! 🙂

To my surprise, even when the form told me that there was not yet a perfect muzzle for Pipo (which was in the process), one arrived along with NINA's!!! In his case, it was the REX model.

Pipo is not used to wearing this type of muzzle and being Pipo, we are in the process of getting used to this strange thing that looks nothing like his current muzzle, for now, I have no photos or videos of the process.

As a Dog Trainer, I looked at the guide on the Muzzle Movement page for muzzle training and I thought it was very good!!!

based on positive reinforcement, very well explained step by step, with easy-to-follow instructions I couldn´t test it with my son yet, because he is a Spanish speaker, but I’m going to read it for him so we can review it from KAD's point of view.

In conclusion, I am very happy to have offered our help to KADs to test this muzzles that have our complete approval 🙂, not only for the quality of the materials, but also because they are designed with enough room to pant and be able to receive treats, and for the variety of sizes and measurements that allow you to have a perfect, lightweight and durable muzzle for almost all types of dogs!! (and they continue testing and adding new sizes)

I hope this review has been useful to you, and that you explore the website of this great Muzzle Movement that understands that the muzzle is an invaluable tool for ALL dogs and seeks to create a community that shows that dogs that need to use a muzzle are not bad and can have a great life while wearing it.

QUOTES

Matt Hymus – KAD Pro Trainer, Help with Hounds

“I had previously carried out training with a Baskerville muzzle, but I found my dog has taken to training with this muzzle a lot easier. They offer so much more room and appear to be more comfortable.”

“The quality seems unrivalled, and I love the huge treat hole in the front. When you compare [The Muzzle Movement and Baskerville] side by side, the comparison is stark.”

Niki French – KAD Pro Trainer, Pup Talk

“I think it’s super stylish and also is incredibly robust. You might think it’s a bit pricey compared to a more standard Baskerville-style muzzle, but it’s a completely different league of muzzle.”

“The measuring guide was very clear...we got some reasonably accurate measurements but the information from The Muzzle Movement was brilliant. I found the customer service to be really good.”

“I think this is the easiest-to-wear muzzle that I have ever seen.”

“For the first time I have a muzzle that I would be comfortable for Bodhi to wear for longer, if he needed it.”

Frankie Lees RVN – KAD Pro Trainer, Puppy School Plymouth

“[My dog] can still open her mouth, pant, and take treats as well. It’s a really good and is really well made.”

“We used the training guide to train her to wear [the muzzle] and used Primula Cheese to squirt through the treat hole while she learned how to wear it.”
